Japanese Passions

Now is the perfect time to discover Japan with Asiana. With the blossoming of the cherry blossoms and summer on its way, the fine weather makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor activities. With one of the widest airline networks in Japan, reaching 14 major cities across the peninsula, Asiana puts you on the inside track of Japan.

Style Central

Hop over to frenetic Tokyo - one of the world’s shopping capitals. Style mavens and architecture aficionados have been flocking to Omotesando Avenue, Tokyo’s answer to Paris’ Champs Elysee. The biggest international names in fashion have set up megastores here, built by equally big name architects. While shopping, take time to appreciate the sci-fi inspired Prada building by Herzog & de Meuron, the ethereal Dior store where dressing rooms have video cameras that project your image onto video screens instead of mirrors and the dramatic Tods building of concrete and glass by Toyo Ito.

Manga Mania

Dive into the dizzy world of Manga. The Japanese comic art form has won followers all over the world. First stop is Takarakazu, 20km northwest of Osaka, hometown of Manga pioneer Tezuka Osamu, the creator of Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion, the inspiration for Disney’s The Lion King. Marvel at his imaginative creations at the Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum and try your hand at animation in the basement studio.

Golf Haven

With over 2,400 golf courses, Japan is perfect for a golfing getaway. Take personalized lessons at the beautiful David Duval Golf Academy in Miyazaki, where the latest computers can analyze your swing and compare it with the Top 100 golf pros. Indulge in a round at the historic Hirono Golf Club near Osaka - the top ranked course in Japan. Over at Taiheyo Golf Club where Tiger Woods and David Duval won the 2001 World Cup, golfers enjoy spectacular views of Mount Fuji. Round off your holiday at the lush Oarai Golf Club in Ibraki, just 40km east of Tokyo, where the seaside course offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

Hiking and Hot Springs

Check into an onsen resort and let the curative waters of Japan’s hot springs melt your troubles away. Thousands of hot springs dot the rocky landscape, and this must-try Japanese ritual is best enjoyed after a day of hiking. In Nikko National Park near Tokyo, relaxing at the idyllic lakeside onsens are perfect after visiting the surrounding shrines and waterfalls. Beppu, near Fukuoka has the largest variety of hot springs, including sand baths. There are also hot springs known as ‘hells’ that are fascinating to see.
